As a business owner, you realize that having a customer hurt in your business would be very bad. Besides the fact that a person is hurt, you might also end up with bad publicity, law suites and other problems that could ultimately put you out of business. The scary part is that it could come from something as simple as a spilled glass of water on the floor. If the floor becomes slippery and someone falls, you could have a disaster on your hands.
This is why it is important to have a combination of employee training and proper flooring material to prevent it from happening.
Your employees should be aware of the danger of slips and falls and make sure that any spills get cleaned up as quickly as possible and that the area is cordoned off to prevent anyone from stepping in that area. This could get tricky if there is heavy rain, since many customers might come in with wet clothing or dripping umbrellas.
If your floors are naturally slick, there are slip resistant floor finishes that can be applied to make your floors safer. This finish will need to be periodically reapplied since it wears off over time.
